Magic Mushroom Trip Stages — A Phase-by-Phase Walkthrough
A psilocybin experience is not a single uniform feeling that switches on and off. It is a sequence of distinct phases, each with its own physical, emotional, and perceptual signature. Knowing the stages in advance dramatically improves the experience: you stop worrying that "something is wrong" during the come-up, you recognise when you are at the peak, and you know what to expect during the come-down.
Phase 0: Pre-dose
Set and setting matters most in this phase. Pick a calm, private environment. Eat a light meal 2 to 3 hours before dosing (or skip the meal entirely for the sharpest onset). Hydrate. Set a clear intention for the session — a question you want to explore, an emotion you want to sit with, a relationship you want to reflect on. Have water, a comfortable blanket, and a sober trip-sitter for higher doses.
Phase 1: Onset (15 to 60 minutes after dose)
The first noticeable effects. Mild body tingling, a slight shift in visual edges, often a brief wave of nausea as the gut digests the mushroom material. The nausea passes inside 10 to 15 minutes and is dramatically reduced if you took the dose as tea or lemon-tek. Mood shifts subtly toward openness. Music starts to sound deeper.
Phase 2: Come-up (30 to 90 minutes after dose)
Effects build steadily and sometimes feel like a wave you cannot quite measure. Visuals sharpen — leaves on trees appear more textured, colours saturate, light catches surfaces differently. Closed-eye geometry begins (faint, then more elaborate). Time perception softens. Emotional sensitivity increases. This is the phase where first-time users sometimes wonder if "this is it" — the answer is no, you are not yet at the peak. Trust the process.
Phase 3: Peak (90 to 150 minutes after dose)
Full intensity. Open-eye visuals (geometric patterns overlaid on the visual field), elaborate closed-eye fractals, marked time distortion (a minute can feel like 15), strong emotional openness, ego softening or — at higher doses — full ego dissolution. Music can feel like it is happening inside your body rather than outside it. Memories can surface with unusual clarity. Insights about personal relationships, patterns, and emotions are common.
Phase 4: Come-down (150 to 240 minutes after dose)
Effects taper from the peak. Open-eye visuals fade first, then closed-eye visuals, then time distortion. You can hold a coherent conversation again. The emotional openness lingers — many users describe the come-down as the most pleasant phase, with the intensity of the peak behind them and a warm reflective mood still present.
Phase 5: Afterglow (4 to 48 hours after dose)
Sub-perceptual residual mood lift. Sleep tends to be deep and refreshing. The next morning often features unusual mental clarity, increased emotional openness, and a kind of "clean slate" feeling that long-time users learn to expect. Integration journaling in this window is one of the highest-leverage practices in psychedelic harm-reduction.
Phase 6: Integration (next several days to weeks)
Insights from a strong session do not automatically translate into life changes. Integration — talking through the experience with a therapist or trusted friend, journaling, taking concrete small actions on insights — is what makes a psilocybin session matter weeks and months later.
Trip-sitter notes
For doses above 2 g of standard cubensis (or 1 g of Penis Envy / APE / Melmac), a sober trip-sitter is genuinely worth having present. The sitter does not need to do anything except be calm and reassuring if the user has a difficult moment. Most difficult moments resolve in under 15 minutes with a calm voice nearby.

Discreet Canada-wide shipping from Toronto
Every order leaves our Toronto fulfilment the same business day when placed before 2 p.m. ET. Canada Post Xpresspost typically lands in 1 business day across Ontario, 2 to 3 days across Quebec, the Prairies and the Maritimes, and 3 to 5 days across British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. A tracking number is emailed the moment the package leaves our facility.
Packaging is fully discreet. The outer mailer is plain kraft with a neutral return address, with no branding or product hints. Inside, every product is vacuum-sealed in odour-barrier mylar, padded with kraft, and surrounded by activated-carbon liners that neutralise residual mushroom aroma. Drivers, neighbours, mailroom staff and roommates have no way to identify the contents.
Payment: Interac e-Transfer or Bitcoin
We accept exactly two payment methods: Interac e-Transfer for any Canadian bank account, and Bitcoin for customers who prefer cryptocurrency. Card networks classify psilocybin as a prohibited substance under their merchant agreements, so any dispensary claiming to accept Visa or Mastercard is either misrepresenting what is in the box or operating on a soon-to-be-frozen merchant account.
Interac e-Transfer auto-deposits in under five minutes on every major Canadian bank and credit union. Bitcoin payments are quoted at the moment of order placement, locked for 30 minutes, and confirmed in roughly 10 minutes on-chain. Either way, your order moves to "paid" automatically and the warehouse pulls the pick ticket immediately.
Lab-tested potency and purity
Every batch we list is third-party assayed by a Health-Canada-certified analytical lab. We require a minimum of 0.7 percent combined psilocybin and psilocin by dry weight on cubensis batches, and 1.2 percent or higher on potent classifications like Penis Envy or APE. Heavy metals (arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury) are screened by ICP-MS, pesticides by GC-MS, and microbial load by membrane filtration. A batch that fails any single contaminant threshold is destroyed, not re-sold cheaper.
Safety, contraindications and harm-reduction
Psilocybin is physiologically among the safest psychedelics studied: no known lethal dose for an adult, no organ toxicity at recreational ranges, no addictive potential. That said, do not combine with lithium (seizure risk), MAOI antidepressants, Tramadol, or large amounts of alcohol or stimulants. Personal or first-degree-relative history of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar I, or psychotic depression is a genuine contraindication. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and active cardiovascular disease are reasons to wait. For everyone else: known dose, known source, sober trip-sitter at higher doses, comfortable setting, no driving for 12 hours, and at least 7 days between full experiences.
